In Fridays lecture given by professor Kjar, the main topic was evolution and the process of evolving over time. My prior knowledge of evolution was that of basic expectation of the survival of the fittest. So what I knew was species evolve to adapt to their surroundings. Professor Kjar added to my knowledge that evolution also had to do with the parents of the offspring. He explained that over the years genetics has changed drastically because of the constant mating with other species but in the same genera. The examples of species he used was ants. The part that was most interesting to me was when Professor Kjar showed us the amount of different species of ants that ended up crossing their genes. In all science and nature are meant to coexist because without nature there would be no science and without science there would not be a understanding as to how our world works.
