Understanding The Brain: Professor Lovett

450 x 300 - 17k - jpg - www.healthjockey.com/.../beer-bottels-brai
Dr. Lovett spoke of a number of different parts of the brain that I was unfamiliar with in the past. The entire lecture was interesting but one point that was brought up was particularly interesting. Dr. Lovett talked about a syndrome know as Korsakoff syndrome which is sever short term memory loss caused by excessive alcohol consumption. The reason i found this so interesting was because as a college student I understand the effects alcoholism can cause. I never know that it could actually cause a syndrome.

Whats Up Myself?

Benjamin Franklin stood by a strict routine of organized maintenance of every day life. He would keep a long of what specific activities he had to do that particular day. Franklin made notes of a person living in an organized life style can quickly become chaotic. Someone with good order is only bound to have even greater chaotic periods. I say this because as organized I am myself, whenever this organization gets disrupted my life become very chaotic.

Night

How does Wiesel Present himself at the beginning of the book and at the end?

When the book begins the reader immediately gets wave of strong religious belief coming from Wiesel. Saying things like no matter what struggles lie in my feature i wall never give up my faith in God. I may lose all trust in humanity but my faith will remain to true. Then towards the end of the book, when Wiesel's struggles are filled with death and destruction his faith in God diminishes. Similar to Job, Wiesel went through terrible hardships and lost everything he owned during the Holocaust. Different from Job, He didn't get any of it back.

Reflection on Lecture Given by Professor Denis

It was quite shocking that even after 67 times of giving that same lecture Professor Denis still got emotional during certain parts of his presentation. To me all this means that the Holocaust is still a very real and scary part of history that some still have a hard time comprehending its magnitude. I have been to Germany before and I was able to visit a Jewish holding cell. When I was there the tour guide stressed deeply that the Holocaust is not something to joke about and just like in Professor Denises lecture this realization was embedded into my memory once again. However something new that I learned during the presentation was the amount of art work that the Jewish prisoners were producing to keep their sanity during the horrific confinement. Art was the safe haven these people went to when their spirits were completely broken.

Reflecting on Fridays Lecture

In the lecture on Friday Professor Kather put into perspective how relevant the illustrations in "The Book of Job" were. Each plate of the story had an illustration to correspond with what happened in that section of the book. The reading it's self was not exactly the most entertaining of pieces but the illustrations played a major role in explaining what was about to occur.

Second Half of Job

Is Such A Conception of God Still Relevant in the Modern World?

Absolutely! People often want to find blame in God whenever a tragedy occurs. Not saying that I'm any different but psychology it is easier to say why did this have to happen to me. What could I possibly done so wrong to deserve such wrong doing. Job did exactly this, immediately blaming God for his punishment when in reality God was looking out for Jobs best interest. As hard as it may seem at times the power of prayer might just be the best solution.
